Change run falls within checkouts and team support. We use a colleague from cash office too most days and so do a lot of other stores but it is not a cash office routine. We count self service on a Monday and this takes up to an extra hour. Normal change run takes up to an hour for us but can be as little as 30 mins but we only have 7 main bank tills, 2 basket, 3 CSD and 2 PFS. We don't always have to top up self service daily but even so this does not take long, we have six. It's the day when the self service is counted that takes the time. We are not a 24 hour store so for that day the team support and cash office colleague start an hour before store opens.
If a lot of mistakes are made this could be where the time is going. It's handy to have a cash office colleague for this as they understand and know how to correct. Our cash office took on change run rather than drop hours.

We have 23 main bank including cafe, phone shop, CSD, pharmacy then 10 self serve tills and 2 PFS till and it takes us on average an hour and a half a day to till check and top up. This includes counting and declaring the safe beforehand and after the change run and topping the safe up ready for it to be used the next day. We do the change run each day and it is performed by team support and a cash office assistant.

in express with 4 smart cash tills and no self serves, would take 15 minutes including counting safe.

Its takes us about 3hours maybe 3.5 depending on how much tills need.  We have 36 tills including CSD, Pharmacy etc and 27 Self Scan/Says tills.

We always declare safe in between doing checkouts and self scan so that any mistakes that may have been made can easily be rectified.
