What happens this year for non flexi colleagues like myself who aren't contracted to work saturdays and yet the boxing day bank holiday falls on that day, how does the colleague make sure they can have this bank holiday entitlement on another date.

By using your Bank holiday entitlement.
You do not get extra days just because your contracted shift doesn’t fall on a Bank Holiday.
Some years you’ll benefit from situations like this some you won’t.

Take someone who is contracted for a Bank Holiday, they must use some of their Bank Holiday entitlement to have it off, whereas someone who isn’t contracted doesn’t have too and can use it somewhere else instead.
How many Bank Holiday entitlement you get is dependent on how many days your contracted for.
