Tesco trials express delivery service

Quote
The supermarket giant will trial the service, which is called Whoosh, at its Willenhall Express store in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. The service will initially only be available only for consumers in selected postcodes in the local area.

Orders will be placed via Tesco’s app or on its website, with customers charged a £5 delivery fee, there is also an added £2 charge if you spend under £15.

Why can I hear the MM phrase "drop this off on your way past".  :o

Can see this being fun and games in an express, I get that they will have delivery drivers doing the actual deliveries but its still going to impact on the staff in store and can you see Tesco increasing the staff levels in express, maybe they will in the trial store but if this gets rolled out it will be a case of we are putting this into your store now crack on.
Do not let anyone tell you there is not a decent job and life beyond Tesco.

This will increase sales in Express and make it even more apparent that the main driver of transactions and sales is in the convenience group, not superstore.

They will have to focus on resourcing of Express formats as well as the salary banding/work level of Express SMs as this will be another responsibility and accountability on their list.

Isn't Express to small for such operations?

Depends on category, Cat 1s and most cat 2s more than likely will be too small.

Cat 3s and 4s and few Cat 2s will be big enough though.

Do/will customers have the choice to (A)reject a delivery or (B) get a discount if it is late, if not they should.
