We have been toldthat once the new app is live we will have a new my shift telling you where you will be and how long you have to do your job and already have been told the replenishment at night job per person will increase 50% approx from one isle to one and half despite struggling some nights to complete has anyone else been told this.

oldfashionedplayer

They can increase it all they want, still not able to do the job properly at all as is, I try at ours and get complained at by management, but end of day doing what it says to do, only thing don't do atm is the clean as go of cleaning the shelves, but they hate date rotation 😂.

Been told our nights is overmanned by 30 hours anyhow, and we have 3 managers helping us atm and we can't finish... So it'll be fun, cause we got deli, plant bakery, BWS back from days, and now we have bakery too for prepping for managers 😩

Lol like f*** I'm putting a staff app on my phone

King1999

That's been the majority feeling in our store. >:D

The app is probably like inform, meaning anyone on apple, won't be able to download without a newer version / model  thing you need higher than 11? Compared to android where it updates the system 😂, so most won't be able to download it anyhow, mine has so many older ones that just don't have the technology, so thry got no chance to see where they going.

I'm still not going to a website to look at what I'm going to be doing in a shift, a manager can do that, then they can tell me

surlaroute

OP sounds like they're in a s*** store. I'm engaged in a thread (not the first time) with (probably) a higher up on the our Tesco site who is clearly in one of the special stores that actually works the way they pretend every store does on the site, let's call them model stores from now on. It's gonna be chaos when all of this comes official in October. I honestly think Tesco management have been phished in by some crazy s*** management theory by one of their competitors cos even my direct supervisor presented the new contract to me like "I know, it's insane, sorry"

I think this may be delivery only. Backstock looks to have to be worked before TW or nights start. I'm not 100% on this but it may be work clarifying.

Littlething

Stock control massively affected again I see with structures, sorry to jump on post

I'm sure it was explained to me that when the Extra Hours process starts (I know it already has) that we could view and possibly take extra shifts in other nearby stores.

Have I misunderstood this?

What is interesting is that this new app is supposed to give a breakdown of where you are and for how long or so I was led to believe e.g. cheese 1.5 hours meat 1 hour  5 hours frozen , instead all it says is dairy cabinet 7.5 hours. Which is exactly what the manager could tell you.
Also when mm is tackled about this time and motion  it's what was agreed by the union I'm told.
We have been told also that everyone has till October to fall in line and get up to speed otherwise those will be performance managed.
So really if this has been agreed with usdaw then I think it's time to performance manage usdaw and spend your subs elsewhere.
If not I think usdaw needs to contact WGC and make sure that the correct procedures are in place.
We need a union like the RMT.

If I've understood things correctly I think, in future, it'll be possible to pick up overtime shifts in other stores.

Going by what I've seen on Colleague Help some stores (which, I wouldn't know) are trialling "Schedule to Workload". Looking at the example images you could be on Dairy from 9am through 1pm and then Dry Grocery from 1pm through 4pm.

Sounds like they are going to almost dictate what times we can go for our breaks to make sure departments are covered  :D. Good luck with that one when you're on a service call, you haven't served anyone for a good five minutes, and yet three hours later you're still sat there because team support (not all of them, before I'm shot down!) "forget" you're on there... and quick to run off to MM because you had the 'cheek' to close your lane  ???.

The Morrisons store I worked in twenty years back tried something like whatajoke describes, deputy manager or the pm should deputy be on day off or holiday, had to do a plan each day, saying who was on what department by hour and what time everyone would take breaks.

Was a right farce, it might have worked had the department managers been able to use some discretion i.e. its very slow on tills today lets move Fred onto BWS who have loads of backstock to work, or we know Frozen is running late so lets send staff for a break now not when the plan says, but no said plan had to be stuck to only SM, deputy or PM could override it.

Hopefully Tesco will make a better job of such a system but I have some doubts.
Do not let anyone tell you there is not a decent job and life beyond Tesco.

Hibobhi

"hopefully Tesco will make a better job of such a system" hahahahahahahahahah, thanks I needed that laugh after a s*** day

whatajoke2019

Can see it now...

MM1: "Where's Billy today? He's scheduled to be on Frozen from 2pm... is he still on Trollies?"
MM2: "D'oh... I forgot! He's on holiday this week. Haven't had chance to put it on the system".

Or maybe... "I don't care Grocery delivery arrived at 11pm and you've got 10 cages of Pop delivery to work... the schedule says you need to be off by Midnight and fill 16 cages of Frozen before 3am!"

How does anyone take a whole night in just one aisle, what are you doing, Sleeping?

Sherwoodforest

I work nights and have not been told this, theres numerous factors affect this, fully facing adds hours on my aisle, the quality of collegue i follow from previous shift, quality of decard during the day,and of course remerchs and stock control routines which are getting less,
Tesco Finest Karma, best served bent over💩

The brief said that in time you will be able to do this, but not now.

New contracts go live in oct but the training for serve, pick and fill starts in July and will take a year. The system is up and running but it's in the planning stage for wk 18, we have not hit that yet. It will also only ever be as good as the work put into it by the manager. The manager has to stay at least three weeks ahead and put in overtime where needed. Sick and domestic cover will always be less than that. Overtime shifts can be published as soon as the hours have been authorised by the store manager. In theory the overtime can be published before they have been authorised but you are then at risk of having overtime cut.

There is an App, its called MyTesco I have it on my phone and you can do lots of different stuff with it including see your shifts and pick up overtime if any is avaialable.

fscer

Nope not an app, all you got there is a shortcut to a website.

jonty

Yup it sounds like the website link has been added to the home screen of your smart phone, which creates an icon - which looks like an app.

An actual app may have been more useful though as it could have sent notifications to your phone when overtime/holiday requests get confirmed etc...

I can't see this new site being used by store colleagues as HO would hope. It's not user friendly and it's not in the spirit of the Tesco culture.

I still sometimes have to help colleagues order uniform  on their phone as nobody else can be bothered to help them.

The introduction of pin number/QR code scan to log on pda is much easier though.

To be fair we used to login to the PDA's by scanning our clock in card at one point, didn't we?  So they made us get a Tesco account to go back to scanning the card.  I'm not complaining mind, just the long winded way about it.

I finally left Tesco after just over 26 years service around 2 months ago now. The new contracts etc had just been briefed out before I left and it felt like I was genuinely walking away from an impending car crash when I left.
Well looking through these comments the car crash is underway.
Colleagues have just become fodder these days. I used to get excited about going into work each day and deliver well over and above what was expected of me but the years slowly beat that out of me.
Life outside is beautiful. Work for a company that values your experience and invests proper time in your development and wants you to have a good work life balance. Not to mention an actual salary increase something that hadn't happened for 6 years with Tesco due to being at the top of the band even though the cost of living kept increasing.
No regrets and reading the comments here make me remember just how bad it had become and how much worse it will get.
For those still there good luck with this round of changes. For those wondering about getting out, if you can do it. Life in the real world is so much better.
