How long is a piece of string?

There's no set time limit for options candidates. If there's a vacancy that needs to be filled, or your face fits, or your really good at your job then 12 weeks seems to be the minimum. If you're not fast tracked then I would suggest giving it two years. If you haven't been signed off by then give up!
It depends on your own ability, how much support you receive from the senior team and how hard you push yourself. The majority of candidates seem to fail their first sign off interview, then pass at the second attempt.

If you're going onto the options scheme. Good luck and tell us about YOUR experiences

options-a way of developing people from within.
Good idea in concept, but lacking in relevant time scales and rewards.
Too many people put into a state of jumping through hoops for an uncertain future-the whole process needs to be given timeous guidelines and people made aware of what is involved in the programme. It also needs more emphasis on accreditation of prior learning/experience from the training needs analysis point of view.If anyone would like more advice or assistance please drop me a line. - Bloodhound
