 Well it took me two months, but I finally got that job description.
My scanner's playing up, so all I can do is type it. However as I know you're a skeptical bunch, I took pics so you know I'm not lying .

AREA OF BUSINESS: Checkouts
JOB PURPOSE: To support my manager to deliver the Every Little Helps promises for customers through coaching, communicating and co-ordinating activities in my department.

CO-ORDINATE
What you have to do:
Co-ordinate activities at the checkouts to ensure that the Every Little Helps promise for customers 'I don't queue' is achieved
Measures of success:
* One In Front is achieved
* Daily schedules are accurate
* Lunch and tea breaks are managed
* Overtime shifts are covered
* Daily exceptions are coded correctly and on time
* Pay queries are minimised
* No outstanding Welcome Back Meetings
* Age restricted sales policies are adhered to
* Checkout change safe is reconciled
* Pod reconciliation is completed daily
* Returns are kept to a minimum
* Safe and Legal Records are completed daily
* Routine customer queries are dealt with
* Daily plan of multiskillers available

COMMUNICATE
What you have to do:
Keep staff up to date with regular communication
Mesaures of success:
* All staff receive a weekly Team 5
* Staff receive all the information to do their job
* Clear handover communication is completed
* External contractors are dealt with professionally

COACH
What you have to do:
Coach and train the Customer Assistants using your own knowledge and experience
Measures of success:
* All new starters receive job induction training
* Staff are clear about what training they require
* There is a department training plan in place
* Training records are kept up to date
* Legal training is up to date

CUSTOMER ASSISTANT ACTIVITY
What you have to do:
You work with the Front End Team fulfilling your role as a Customer Assistant
Measures of success:
* You carry out your Customer Assistant role for up to 50% of your time (The split in time may vary from week to week)

So hopefully anyone unsure will find that helpful. I want to get another "A Day In The Life Of A... Checkout Team Leader" booklet because I lost mine, and it's a bit clearer than this on what the role is.... saying "DO this" and "DO that." This post took me absolutely ages!
