True, but this should have all been clearly explained to the OP *before" they committed to making the move.

That didn't work for me a year or so back.  Went to the local store's mobile shop instead and they were able to sort out the deal I was after on their computer.

To get started, you'll need your colleague number.** Once you've got this, just text SUPER to 67600. Follow the steps and we'll text you your Super Duper Colleague Deal voucher code, along with an expiry date.

Only way I can see them giving less is by counting it as a formal flexible working request? but even then if there are hours available to be filled on a job role you should be prioritised for increasing back up

if it is though:

"12. Can I change my mind after submitting a flexible working request?

"If you have already started your new working arrangement and you wish to revert to your previous arrangement, the opportunity to do this will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by your manager to see if your request can be agreed."

so worth raising it as an issue, it does seem a fit fishy the way its been done to be honest as normally it'd be discussed prior to it all happening and an agreement?

You can't advertise a role for less than 16hrs now and we have been told not to reduce anyone's hours to less than 12 under new rules.

So I'd question how the role you have been offered ie even allowed to be created.

When you changed job role, who agreed to it and was there any mention of your contracted hours? e.g, "while we can accommodate change of departments, we are unable to offer you your current contracted hours"

Were you aware that the new role was only for 10 hours?

Did you request the change or did they suggest it, as this makes a difference.

Understandably you don't state the incident, but was this something Tesco should have protected you from under their obligations for duty of care.

The rule of thumb is...if YOU request to move department, then they will try to accommodate you, but they are not obliged to give the same hours of contract, so if you knew the other role was a 10 hour contract and requested it, then that's the hours on offer for you to take or decline.

If YOU request to move departments, and you are on a higher skilled rate, but the new department is a lower band, then you drop to the lower band rate.

But if THEY ask you to move to a department, but that role is either less hours contract, lower pay band rate or both, then they MUST accommodate your contract...find you the extra hours and you keep the higher rate of pay.
