From what Drastic has done lately, wouldn't be surprised if he removes it to fund the next 2 year mickey mouse pay review.

Talking of the pay rise crafty Tesco come April paying 28 pence above the minimum wage, looking like its the normal, paying just above minimum by 30 pence or less for future years, so taking away the yearly bonus rewarded us with 28 pence. In April 2021 no doubt minimum wage will be £9 so our wage will then be £9.30 with the second pay rise this year.

Been rumours of personal day going for a while now, wouldn't be surprised if it does to be honest given the way the company is stripping back terms and conditions for staff.

I love that the national living wage increase is more than Tescos last increase when you take into account that they removed the 3.5% bonus, another way to look at it is that Express Shift Leaders will be on just over £2 more than than the minimum wage.

Who would still work as one is another matter.

Is retail not classed as minimum wage work anyway? If it isn't what do we class as minimum wage below the skills of asda sainsburys tesco ga's

Retail is, but there's the expectation from market leaders to be paid significantly above, otherwise people will be attracted to your independents that have far less people traffic and stock than the big 4.

Who said that?

The rate of pay will be dictated by what the government set as a minimum and what the free market thinks is a fair rate above that. Various factors will decide why someone may take employment at a retailer who pay less than others.

There has been rumours due to the fact that Christmas falls on a Friday next year. In Scotland we mostly take the personal day on the 2nd January, which will be a Saturday in 2021. There is talk in the store to say this is not allowed as its a Saturday and we won't be able to opt to take our personal day then. This grew into it being taken away from us. We have a list of bank holidays and the 2nd is included.
The May Day holiday is different though. It's on a Friday for VE Day, 75 years.

Individual stores can’t take away your personal day. If it goes away it will be done across the whole company. Our store is in Scotland and everyone takes their personal day just like they would take other holiday days.

Just book your personal day, you'll soon know! If the holiday booking is now online or with your manager, it'll either be a b/h allowance or not  ???
