Ours has gone up beyond 180! It might be achievable with big picks, but there’s no chance with frozen picks or 2/3 item ambient picks. All we hope for in the morning is to get a school pick, multiples of the same item which pushes our pick rate way up. It’s like hitting the jackpot when you realise you have one of those trollies  ;D

That's exactly what I keep pointing out to our uncomfortable, shuffling "err...umm...you might have a point but somehow...I don't know how...just try to get the pick rate anyway..." management and team leadership over the years. Whether you have a good pick rate or a bad pick rate largely depends on how easy the individual trolleys are. When I started I was just the same. "I've got a good trolley, I've got 20 of this item, 20 of that item, I'm going to be considered a good member of staff today!" But the bad trolleys have to be picked by SOMEONE - and that someone's pick rate is going to go down because of them. Should they be criticised for it? If I win the National Lottery, I win a load of money. If I DON'T win the National Lottery, the Government don't fine me - or give me a Let's Talk - because I'm rubbish at choosing the right numbers...

I know I go on about this subject, but it is something of a sore point. And in my experience, the more you point out the stupidity of their thinking, the less they'll bother you.

The driving side has got harder & harder over the last few years what with the max number of drops increased, the weight of trays going up & now bagless deliveries. No wonder they are saying theres been a high turnover of drivers, isn't it clear why?! I've been driving for tesco for years & have personally adapted to the changes quite well but for new starters it is virtually impossible for them to keep up with the timings, they get stressed out with always being late back to store & after a few weeks leave.

What's it like being a driver do you enjoy it long hours/days? I originally applied to be a driver but at my interview they kept going on about me being a personal shopper then they failed me driving for not using my wing mirrors enough someone else for using them too much 🙄would you recommend your job they are crying out for drivers at my place just have to remember the wing mirrors
It's a heavy job, people come into the job thinking its like delivering a pizza. Most drops are going to be about 40-60kg and you'll do that in 2-4 trips to the door and depending on how busy your store is you'll get up to 17 drops per wave, Have a go at emptying the trays from the pick to the dollies if you can handle that for a shift you can easily be a driver as long as you can use a sat nav and then you can go to the toilet whenever you want!

I actually find doing back room turnaround unloading trollies onto dollies more tiring on my legs as you don't get the same recovery periods while driving between deliveries.  As well as the physical part of the driver job though you also have to be someone who likes their own company for most of the day.  Seen many drivers come and go because they can't hack that part of it.

Pick rate will also depend on size of store and how far the barcode to scan start/end of puck is from shop floor .

AND not to turn this into the csd/pfs pay rate thread , check-outs get timed on their scan rate  and idle time .
Dotcom drivers are timed on their deliveries and have set times to deliver whilst also having their driving speed measured.

Yikes that makes us express look easy but we do have very busy periods and stack and unloading deliveries sometimes we just manage to finish before the shift with our break. Deliveries come at random times over the weekend which is our busiest period.

On to the pick rate what is that by the way?

What's your current role?

I was moved due to rhrp , I still do one night replenishment and my other nights pfs as I refused to change my hours . I also ended up in dotcom years ago due to rhrp , like you say their are pickers with great pick rates and great turnaround times but others who stand about shop floor talking and stand on their phones in between picks , it drove me insane but that was at a time when dotcom got all the help they needed so nothing was ever said to them and noone was ever spoken to about their pick rate . I imagine it is worse for you now that they are tightening the budget for dotcom .

Hi, Forgive me for jumping on this thread, but it does kind of concern pick rates, was after some advice on who to go to regarding a few incidents.
A few weeks ago a picker was down an aisle and was merely saying hello to another member of staff when one of the dot com managers came up behind her a physically pushed her along while screeching in her ear to stop talking.
This same manager has verbally threatened a staff members job while she in shopping because she had the nerve to say hello to one of her friends who was working at the time.
There are more incidents as well, the trouble is because this particular manager is the senior managers 'pet', they socialise outside of work so in her eyes he can do wrong and in turn the senior manager is the store mangers 'pet' and again can do no wrong. They all put his rudeness and attitude down to his 'condition' or 'illness' which is totally BS, Also as most of the staff are on flexi contracts they don't want to be seen as trouble makers and not get offered any overtime, so they put up with it so they don't lose out on any money.

Again apologies if this is the wrong place for this.

As soon as that manager laid a hand on your colleague, he crossed the line... It doesn't matter who he knows, or if he sits on the right hand of God, it is an aggressive bullying gesture which could result in gross misconduct and dismissal.

As it was witnessed by another colleague, then he can deny it all he wants, he won't get away with it, by saying it wasn't caught on the CCTV. A greivance for dignity at work should be made immediately, by that colleague that they were ridiculed in front of another colleague and customers, and was also physically assaulted.

Once that greivance is placed, the manager, senior manager or the store manager, are not permitted to have any contact with the colleague regarding the matter. It has to be taken out of store by the area PM. So his mates can't do diddly squat about it!!

Speak to your rep about this ASAP, as if there is supporting CCTV evidence, they don't get the chance for it to disappear.

If you have enough evidence, go for grievance, there is no excuse for bullying/aggressive behaviour, maybe he thinks he can get away with it because he's the store pet but he can't, and your co workers should report him and get this pet a new home.

The conclusion to grievances and reconcilliation with ACAS is an employment tribunal for harrassment, assault or if it comes to it, constructive dismissal or the grievance being upheld, an investigation from the group PM will occur after Tesco pays out on damages as to why the grievances and reconcilliation wasn't dealt with in the appropriate manner, costing the company money through tribunals by poor decision making is considered gross misconduct, so the SM will likely receive final written/demotion/sacked and senior manager sacked.
