Am I permanent ?
« on: 04-01-19, 08:32PM »
If I have been sent a letter about the companies pension scheme and how to join does that mean I'm permanent staff now?

I was festive for Christmas and they have given me flex sheets going into next week.

They haven't told me anything yet and I don't know who to ask.

Good grief. Use some common sense and initiative. Can you really not find your way to the right person to ask in-store?

Even if your a temp once you've worked for the company for so many weeks by law Tesco have to offer you a pension scheme, even if you will only be working at the company for 1 more day. A bit daft to be honest but its the law of the land. As for if your a temp, ask your manager or your managers boss should your own manager not be around.

My husband works for tesco- joined in October - on a 12 week temporary /trial contract .... he started at one store then transferred to another (as it was closer to us)
Then his new Manager said there is a vacancy for 3 days  and we will give you another 2 days on a flexi and   we will also extend your temporary contract.... Husband has asked the 'Right Person'  a few times, can never get an answer!-- Bloody annoying as he ain't young any more and we just need to know if he has got a permanent position. We are  in limbo every month not knowing- can't relax, cant say o, we'll book a  holiday as we don't know if he will have a job !!  So it's not always easy to ask the 'Right Person' if they wont even tell you !!

Our Chritmas temps all told by 2nd Jan but it will be a store by store case. The temp contracts could have been extended. Either way the temps should have a letter, there are Letters to say both extended temp contract and thanks but terminate contract. Ask an admin clerk as they will probably be doing the letters.
If not Christmas temp you remain on temp contract until such time as you get a new permanent contract. Until then you should be told temp for xxxx time and then it can be extended, finished or made permanent but you should get letters.
