What parts of our personnel file are we allowed to view or have copies of and how would someone go about requesting it?

All of it, I believe, it's your personnel file so you can view at any time.
As for copying, maybe not. Data protection might get in the way

IIRC the rules either have just changed or are about to. Now you used to pay a tenner for the admin costs and you got a full copy of your file on record with anyone elses personal info redacted they had again iirc 30 days to get it to you. I believe the fee is being abolished (it may already have been) so just put it in writing pay them a tenner and you get all your file.

As a matter of interest. You can also request any video that they may hold of you from CCTV records.

Thats true in so far as they would have to be investigating you to have any, also they would have had to burn the footage to dvd or other storage media because footage is only stored for 30 days and then wiped.

Dont forget under Data Protection rules Cctv footage of you can only be recorded if it's for the prevention of crime.

So for example it can exist to detect  till shorts, but not to show you left store for a fag break.

Not quite.  It depends what the Data Protection registration includes as to what it is to be used for.

Tesco can use cctv for performance management and to provide evidence in disciplinary and grievance investigations.  This became policy when the general data protection regulations came into force earlier this year.  Updated signs were sent to stores to be put into staff areas informing everyone of this.

It's performance monitoring. Example the back door check-in bread or deliverys can be watched to see if your meeting the required times.

The hub to my knowledge have had two back door men reprimanded for not confirming to company policy around checking times.

So it is being used for performance monitoring.

Thats not what the all new and improved security and cctc training manual states, Checking for people going for a fag or a crafty extra 5 mins break is in the strictly not allowed column.

I will take a photo of the page and post it when I have a chance.
