Emergency leave option change??
« on: 31-10-18, 08:19AM »
Hi can someone please clarify if the options for emergency leave have changed??

There seems to be a bit of confusion as to whether, taking it as unpaid is no longer an option. ??? ??? Would seem some managers are stating the rules have changed but time now has to be worked back  ??? ???

Like accessing my payslip, I am no longer able to get on Tesco's website to check any updated policies  :-X

The policy remains that emergency leave remains unpaid unless agreed with your manager to work the hours back.

Your manager probably has a shift no one else will cover hence his changing of the rules to suit him/herself

Only work the time back if you need the money.

Big clue in the title emergency leave.

Had to take some emergency leave early on this year due to family illness, just told them to dock my pay.

Believe it or not there are some things more important than Tesco

I was told by our people partner that there is no such thing as emergency t.l anymore all t.l must be worked in advance and is called t.o.i.l now. Emergency leave now consists of a shift change within the same week, unpaid leave or using a holiday. Most of this is in the last updated absense policy.

Your people partner is wrong. T.O.I.L. is a different policy. Please see https://www.ourtesco.com/working-at-tesco/people-policies/time-work/time-off/ for the emergency leave policy.

Note: T.O.I.L applies to planned forseable absence. Emergency leave is unplanned.

I think the issue has arisen because some Employees say yes I will make the time up; but then for numerous reasons fail to do so in a reasonable time. Manager then goes on holiday/sick and time owed is never worked.

Yes any decent manager would sort this out but if you at any thread on here there are loads not up to standard. Is it right Fred always has to make his time up whereas Pete doesn't
