Absence

If you go home sick after having worked more than half your shift, is the rest included in your absence %. It is my understanding that it isn't. Just want to double check.

Yeh its included in absence % as it will coded as part sick so all sickness hrs are included in calculation. It does not get classified as an occasion of sickness though as that's only if under half shift done.

I believe under the new policy it isn't considered an occasion of absence, you get paid for it now too.

Yeah that's what I thought. I know I definitely get paid for it. Don't think it counts towards my % unless I worked less than half a shift.

Princess2016, it's not counted as an occasion but it is included in your % as detailed in Absence policy all hours coded as sick are included.  If you are a T code then 1st day begins next shift.

The new sickness absence policy which was released in October states:

"If you become ill at work then you should speak to your Manager/Team Leader/Duty Manager (or the person covering their role). If you need to go home, and you have more than half a shift left to work, your absence will be recorded and included in your absence levels. You will be paid until the end of your shift for that day."

To me this suggests that more than half a shif leftt, absence is included in %. Less than half a shift left, then absence would not be included in %. It's a bit ambiguous.
