If they are trying to drop people down to 22.5 - 30hr a week contracts, redundancy would have to be an option.

I seen them busy with hands in pockets at the doors.

Must've just been there last shift or something.

I have heard and read a lot of rumours over the last few months and the recent one is buying you out of your ft contracts which to me does seem more likely as our store is quite a profitable dot com extra store and we cannot see how they can fill on days especially fresh and grocery, but I can see them doing it to the smaller depts h&b, bws, frozen and f&f. Does anybody know when in Feb these announcements are going to be made?

Stencho thank you so much for that link. It's the best laugh I've had in ages.

Ditto from me  :D :D :D :D ;D :D

Let's see if the papers pick it up, though the guy could face criminal proceedings as easily identifiable  ??? ???

Wonder if the gingerbread man was laid to rest peacefully, or just cremated in the bakery :)

A very plausible idea, but wouldn't that be the same as what they did with nights going to twilight's? ? Essentially the lump sum was to buy out their night contract and they were offered redundancy too.

It can be argued for redundancy if the contract change also leave the employee open to large changes  in working hours from their original contract. I would imagine this is where the redundancy option would fit in.

As you well know managers are overpaid shelf fillers on nights. Glad you liked the video. Nightshift there were taken for granted , expected to do everything, kept the stock tidy etc. Had to put up with poor lighting , cold air blowing in the canteen , clocks at odd tines, no hot water, even offered lessons on how to speak to customers to cope with the transition from nights to days. No wonder long serving staff got hacked off .........

Is there not meant to be an announcement for LMs in stores mid January from the AD?

I think it's scandalous the way the night crew are being treated. Had a text this morning from a friend talking about the Feb announcement and they are in tatters. I've been on holiday this week and have been told the news could be coming in January for some but as usual there's no concrete evidence to back it up. Seemingly the shift is a disaster right now and I am dreading going back next week because it will be the same talk from the same people who are terrified for their future.  We are all adults here they should just come out and tell us now. Xmas is over they've had their blood, sweat and lovely boost for like for like sales  >:(
