Night closure
« on: 21-01-16, 09:12AM »
Just out of interest, has anybody else been briefed that their store is loosing it's night operation and going to shut the store.  With new hours being 0600-2300 for customers and 0500-0000 for staff.

Night team have been given 3 options 1: move to days,  2: transfer stores,  3: take refinance.

If it was a national thing I'd have thought they'd have arranged the briefings/121's to happen simultaneously to avoid the farce of the last restructure. You never know with Tesco though.

One can only hope this is handled a little more sensitively than last years manager and team leader restructure was.

Hopefully you're right regarding everybody knowing by now. People out there must know stores that are going through this process. My job works around my family and looking after my little girl so moving to days is pretty much a no go.

They would still need their bakers to go in early morning,my guess is if a store is not making profit from being open they will definatly put staff on what they call a twilight shift, the concern is our store is quiet through the night it is a worry for everybody, but we are just waiting till being told

Do consultations of the new structure for convenience format start in week 48 effecting all team leaders apart from front end. I switched formats in the last structure.

Our store isn't busy but we get a few people in. We are the only 24hr store in our area so if people do need anything we are the only store open. Does anyone know anything about which stores it is.

Interested to know do the night managers go part time twilight or early morning or do the day managers pick up the duty??

In sainsburys the team leaders key hold until "normal" trading hours 8-8, wonder if day managers will be forced as business needs to open shop at 5am or alarm at midnight, the plot thickens!

Should no 3 be redundancy ?

So, just had my briefing, so what I've found out is it's just a handful of stores which are all being briefed from today, there will be no night operation what so ever, the night operation is going to be 1500-0000, and the store reopens at 5am for staff, yes that includes bakers, csd, kiosk, direct desk and electrical desk are being combined,
