I thought there were only a few of us left that were there from the start but upstairs says there is over 80 staff on 15 years up to this xmas, mind you many of them are drivers, will try and work out how many nights warehouse are left, i don't think its alot  Cry .

Was Southampton purpose built for Tessers or was it a 'take over'?

Tesco 100% nomad, worked on the backdoor at portsmouth 5 in the 80,s and was hearing rumors of the dc was on the cards even then, only found out by luck that it was being built when driving in to Southampton (M271) xmas 1994 and saw the sign, TESCO DISTRIBUTION CENTRE OPENING AUGUST 1995 ( or something like that ).
And we had something different to any other dc then, a sortation system called TESS, she of course is now dead  angel and no agency either, and as much overtime as we wanted  Evil.

My hubby is also one of the "15 years service" this September. Did you get a separate letter a couple of days later about the £50 celebratory meal? Oh and thrill of all thrills, a long service certificate. I might hang it up in the toilet when he gets it Evil

Yep, got the second letter a couple of days later, as for the long service certificate I've heard that the frame is quite a good one, two of the nightshift got theres last year and a handshake from wardy,( didn't make his 15Th years did he)
Lips Sealed . Did you see the bit where you can spend the £50 in the canteen with your workmates if you want, ok let me think, £50 of canteen food or a nice restaurant with the wife, tricky one that is. Grin

I'd just like to slide into this topic to say, Hats off to you guys and gals who have dedicated so much time to doing such a fantastic job. We only notice Distribution when it goes wrong for a store (not very often) so we are very guilty of taking you for granted but, rest assured there are those of us who know all that you do and appreciate everything! Thanks a million! (or 15 million! Wink )
