Hi if you go on ourtesco the new policy on it has just even put up. As for question you asked it does say it can't be used for a person to work elsewhere. They could find out from inland revenue if the other job was taxable as you would need to declare both jobs .

Would this be the same conditions as a career break then??

Why wouldn’t you be allowed to do another job. The break is from tosco and what you do during that time is none of there business.

Why should Tesco keep someones job open for them via a lifestyle break while that person goes off and works somewhere else for a bit, a lifestyle break is for one to maybe take a longer holiday or do something outside of work over a longer period of time, its not their for people to go off and work somewhere else for a few weeks then walk back into your Tesco job as if nothing had happened.

What's the difference between those two things, in terms of impact on Tesco?

Thank you for all your replies I learned so much .

So if I find another job what would be the best and quickest way to leave Tosco, I still have most of my holidays and bank holidays to take.

Hand in your one week notice. If you leave during the year any earned annual leave is paid out anyway AFAIK.

In a career break, you have effectively resigned and Tesco doesn't have to take you back.
So I don't see how they could object to you having other work in that time.

A Guy in our store done exactly this last year, but was totally honest and up front about it. Took 3 months lifestyle break to go and work on a nuclear power plant outage, told management he was doing this, then returned after.
