Title: Shares / share price and dividends etc .
Post by: just curious on 23-06-18, 11:21AM
Since people are mentioning the Tosco share price in the Sunday Premium Down To Time And A Quarter topic , i thought i would start its own topic .

Who remembers the shares being over six pound a share / let alone a fiver a touch ? , then they did a rights issue where you got X amount of shares in place of the shares you held at over six quid each ?

In all my time with Tosco I never got a dividend through my wages it was always paid direct into my bank after deductions by Equinity for tax etc or a cheque was issued / money re invested for future purchase of shares .

I also remember the early days when you got over four per cent of your earnings in shares before it got reduced to three point six per cent of your earnings ? .  ( this paid for my holidays for a number of years )  .

What are you memories , stories , views and opinions on the shares now ?.

Yes, they devalued the shares to £2 and all shareholders were sent additional shares to make up the difference

SAYE regularly doubled in value.  People were paying off their mortgages, before the cap was implemented.

Part time workers who had a full time partner working elsewhere would put the max amount away a month,  and as a family they would reap the benefits.

I know a bloke who made 80k doing that, he basically put all his wages into it and got a massive payout at the end.

Him his wife and child lived with his parents for the 5 years living on bog all but it was worth it to him he got a house out of it.

Those days are long gone though.

You loose shares that you've held for less than 1 yr.

I sold some shares there, they took £25 handling fee off me, then have to wait until it goes into my next pay only to be taxed and insured on it! Why can't they just send out a cheque or put it in my pay before pay-day! Grrrrrrrrrr!
