Every assistant should be checked wouldn't like to think a convicted peado was walking about the store showing children to the sweety aisle.

In an ideal world Tesco should do a full check on ANY new starter along with references.

In all probability no checks will be done, I know none of my references were taken up when I started.

Anybody out there know of occasions where somebody was employed only to find out later their CV was economical with the truth

No but I know plenty who were employed without having to give a CV and are now senior managers.  You'd think it was the p**n factory at times not retail.  :)

I  may be wrong, but it used to be that CRB checks were for those who may be likely during the course of their work be expected to deal in a private setting with 'children or vulnerable adults'. Although this may have changed.

I think that with home delivery drivers there is the high probability that they would come into contact with elderly or vulnerable adults in the setting of a persons private property.

Where-as in stores it is more usual to encounter the public in the public setting of the shop-floor with other staff and customers around.

The official policy is https://www.ourtesco.com/working-at-tesco/people-policies/staying-legal/criminal-records/ (https://www.ourtesco.com/working-at-tesco/people-policies/staying-legal/criminal-records/)

Pharmacy, Farm to Fork and customer delivery drivers (including multiskillers) may have their records checked.

Note: internal transfers are not required to have record checks.

I dont think that a company like Tesco could refuse to employ someone that had been Convicted of that offence for every Job role , And I think its more a case of worrying about such persons if they work with children directly ,

Also do Tesco do these checks every year or just when you apply for a job ?

I've known stores I worked in to struggle with up to date work visas, let alone CRB checks on all staff.
