Company sick pay
« on: 09-11-17, 09:06AM »
Hi

Hoping someone can help me.

I was off for 8 weeks last year  (aug 16) using up my entitlement if 36 paid sick days.

I’m visiting the doctor next week and may need to take off another prolonged absence.

Question: Will my entitlement of 36 days of reset?

Thanks

Found this :
Once an employee has built up a six week allowance it becomes their 'fall back' position, this means that regardless of the amount of sick leave they take in any year they will always be eligible for a minimum of six weeks sick leave each year going forward. To this six weeks an additional week is added for each year of service, up to a maximum of 16 weeks sick allowance

So in simpler terms, to be eligible for the 6 week you need to enployed for at least 5 years. Once at this point you get minimum of 6 weeks per year. Am I getting this right?

They also take of the previous years sick.So if you are entitled to say 12 weeks sick and previous year you have had say 5 weeks sick you will only get 7 weeks sick for the year.A minimum of six weeks will apply.

Like tom has said the reset is from the date you Joined , So your joining date is the Important one ,

so if I am correct if you started in say Feb that's the date you get your reset ,

Notsofunny Yes thats correct, sickness resets on the day you joined. But they take off the previous years sick off your entitlement.Min 6 weeks if it falls below that.

Thanks guys

So I started in feb 08, so every February it resets to min 6 weeks?

I had 34 days off which at 5 days per week is just over 6 weeks.

This year would be my entitlement ? Min 6 plus any?

Also when they say 6 weeks, is that based on 6weeks x 5 day a week shifts = 30 days.
If you was contracted to 4 days a week , what happens then?
Thanks all

I would assume its 6 weeks whether you work 1 day or 5 days its just 6 shifts or 30 shifts.

I doubt if you worked 1 shift you could have 30 days off that would be 30 weeks :D
