The truth is Tesco does not care about you, I worked for Tesco for over 30 years without a single grievance or verbal warning on my record. Walked in one day and was told to take a deal or I would be made redundant, I was told David Lewis didn't want people like me in the Business( only met him once) I was told not to speak to anyone about what had happened, 30 years of friendship down the pan.

Work hard but remember your a number and never put Tesco before your friends and family.

And to think after 30 years you did not understand how it works , its not that you had not seen it all before, No need to be angry about it , don't let it rule your life , As I have seen lots more in life than Tesco , add to that max pay out which is what I and you must have got  :D

Does anyone know what the new 'people partner' role looks like? There are a vast amount of PMs that don't want to do the new role and are planning to leave , and there are a few who do want to try the new role. Less money I imagine?

There will always be someone willing to take the PM role for less money;, but will then realise their mistake when it ends up like the SL roles and drop out rate is massive.

Would be more money I expect as covering 3-4 stores worth of posters to straighten and create.

With the increasing movement from the company for staff to do things online themselves do you even need a PM betwee. 3-4 stores. Surely team managers who are frequently told to act as if their department is their own business should be capable of dealing with personal issues.

The PM role is what? They tell you to ask your manager and don't reply to emails and telephone calls.

There is no chance it will be next week, imagine the negative PR just in time for xmas. We will go into consultation mid jan and be out of the business for wk 1 payroll.

That time scale would make more sense - Tesco is desperate for a decent Xmas trading period and it will want as much resource available to ensure it, in turn it will need CMs to ensure Xmas payroll is delivered to protect profit, having them gone by Week 1 allows more time to up skill replacements and redistribute task to Team Managers thus reducing any impact on the performance of the stores - easier to pull back under performance if you things go off track so early in a year.

Following a store manager meeting (Christmas p**s up) on my group, Ive just been informed that the compliance manager cull is not going ahead. This contradicts what we were all hearing last week, that we were going to get notice mid January. Anyone else heard anything, or am I living in hope that my SM is suffering from a hangover which is also making him voice  delusional fantasies?? If you read on other threads, a lot of people are saying they are going "re brand" the role.

Ive been praying this is my last Christmas, looks like all the hopes and dreams of the ones that want to depart are going to be shattered!! :'(

The SMs are trying to boost moral as if they are going to say before official meetings. If you believed SMs some stores will keep a night shift too.

The SM in our store has remained evasive on the issue. No SM is going to confirm removal of a manager this week or next, anything will be confirmed post Xmas.

Rubbish. The pilot was a pilot in which both roles were removed so the role out will be the exact same company wide. Both will go at same time

Compliancemanager - Got told the exact same thing about 4weeks ago, pilot for CM didn't go well (allegedly) and that the PM removal will get signed off but not CM. Crashed my morale too! Even PM is unsure if compliance role will go which is adding doubt, logically doesn’t make sense to keep role we get nothing sent to us any more, audits are diluted and all communication sent to SM’s so we are being excluded and appear to be surplus to the store/company but then you hear all the rumours/lack of feedback from pilot stores and it puts doubt in your mind.

I've never known a role be so readily diluted down in order to justify removing it! Refer to above post

Stores illegal and audits failing - could that be a reason to keep the compliance role the?!

If stores fail audits there is already a clear audit governance process to manage the managers. Do you really need a CM to check that TM are doing their job when you employ ST to do that?

I've heard the noise around cm role staying, Makes no sense though..what of the pilot stores?.do they bring somebody back in?.my thinking is that perhaps they resurrect the training and capability  manager role.it wouldn't leave them open to grievances and it could be job matches to either pm of cm,saving a ton of redundancy. But I still think the cost savings for removing both roles have been built into next year's numbers and it will go ahead no matter what.hoping so anyway!.

Been 9 months of uncertainty we all just want to know what’s happening and when. I agree that it makes no sense keeping the role, they have removed most accountability from the role over a period of time (s&l books/audits/communication/legality in pi etc) so aligning the infrastructure for removal.
