Am I the only person who feels this is no longer a partnership ???

A partnership should be for the mutual benefit for both parties, in the last 5 or so years Tesco has forced through real time pay cuts due to poor senior management decisions by tesco, fraudulent bookeeping  impacts, over stretching the company, shortfall on pension contributions etc etc yet those at the top get 100% bonuses for implementing  these cuts, so basically taking away jobs, premiums and pay freezes are paying for their bonuses.

If you are not happy about this can I ask some things of you

1/ approach your union rep telling them you want them to bring up with their area organiser you dont think the partnership works and want it changed ( its your right)

2/ Reps bring up at your monthly meetings you are not happy with the state of the partnership and want it debated , we want the right to say no to offers, we want our side to be less accommodating as they are selling out all our rights, we want the right to take strike action back if the partnership doesn't change, we want the pay review forum re vamped, we currently have the like of  Bess from checkouts negotiating with lawyers and directors on our behalf , Jesus that's like having your 6 year old negotiating with you over household finances

3/ Reps bring this topic up at area union meetings, debate it at divisional meetings and lets get it raised at the ADM



Wether or not you like the union, are in the union , we all dont like what is happening to us in regards to pay and conditions , so you can choose to moan on here or start talking about this and lets try and make the difference

So says another person for the hundredth time. Still isn't getting anything anywhere when you are talking to a closed mind (the union).

Sometimes if you want change you have to go outside the established  lines.

Remember, unions weren't recognised forms of representation when they started. They stepped outside the established lines to get it.

Only way to get the union to change is to hurt there their pocket and leave.  Most of what they are willing to do for you in store Citizens Advice Bureau do for free.

The Union is not a separate entity - YOU are the union.  Not happy with the way things are done then why not become an activist and try to bring about change?

The problem is retail is in turmoil at the moment and only 12% of it's workforce is in a recognised union - we need stronger union membership, not weaker.

Get another job, retire or become self employed too many people mess about at Tesco when there are far better opportunities out there.  Don’t waste your time trying to change 2 company’s companies who are clearly too busy sh**ging each other off. Only saying!

Raise it through the forum and make it explicitly clear that things have to change, the forum is the unions get out of jail card, don't forget, we have our colleagues on the national forum to thank for this mess. This is a way to make the forum work for us.

I've cancelled my membership over their handling of the Sunday premium. They negotiated a bad deal, offered no explanation and even when asked the reps don't have a clue what's going on. Just negotiated myself a £10 per month pay rise.
