So after the number crunch with the xmas results it showed the worst performance for non food since 2009 well surprise surprise!!! With one of the worst decisions TESCO has ever made putting non food onto days so what just to save literally pence well it's come back to bit them on the bum. There is money in non food with the right investment and the right strategy ie back on nights then the results will follow??

So it looks like all the focus is on personnel manager and compliance manager going by the end if the financial year then.  The rest of us on nights might have to wait another year before we know anything

The night crews will only have to wait until the next business plan comes out at the beginning of the next financial year.

So the rest of the night operation is going to go in the final year? Come on mate I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. Let’s just wait and see

Would be very surprised if all extra's and superstores going twilight as distribution wouldn't be able to cope. As it is at the moment it's tying up trailers fully loaded waiting to be delivered at 5 am plus expresses and One Stops having to be loaded between midnight and 8 am . Where are the DC's going to get the extra space, extra units, trailers and rigids plus extra drivers all to come in between 3 and 4 in the morning. With 45,000 drivers short in this country. Don't think this will happen.

It's also a question of congestion. Thurrock already struggles with traffic volumes on the M25 at the Dartford crossing.....do they really want to add more lorries to the mix.

They will copy the Aldi/Lidl model which has 24hr warehouse and truck drivers. Aldi and Lidl has no Night shift workers so its just a case of the D Lewis copying their model of working.

I see your point. But how does the driver in a large store take frozen and fresh and pull them to a fridge and freezer on the other side of the shop?

That would take in the place I work one man at least two hours if there is room to put it. Plus the return cages are blocking the warehouse as the delivery arrives.

Would they want a wagon tied up for 2 to 3 hours at a store?

Aldi drivers all did this but distance was alot less in the store warehouse.  3 or 4 pallets of chill 1 or 2 pallets of freezer and the rest ambient. Different amouts now adays but concept the same.

There is another phase of stores moving to a twilight fill there is also the yearly flexible management structure review which will affect a small proportion of stores.

In reality your Group Productivity Manager simply doesn't know. That role's days are also numbered, it's been on the cards longer than the CM and PM cull and rumored to be going/changing in the next financial year.

David1 will there be any news for the Services/Pfs managers who were told last year that their job role was being combined in 2018 under a soft structure change.

Group Productivity manager is a new role that started in September.

I’m not sure how it’s been on the cards for going since before the CM/PM cull when it’s only existed for 4 months?
