Lidl is turning its rapid growth into more stores as five new sites opened across the country today.

The German discounter unveiled new supermarkets in Edinburgh, Stockton, Hull, Polegate and Rosehill, south London, bringing 700 new jobs with them, according to Lidl. The expansion is part of a £1.45 billion growth project aiming to open 50 new stores by the end of 2018, as demand for Lidl continues. It showed a 16.3 per cent sales increase from this time last year.

The discounter plans to open up 14 more by the end of February as the company continues to balloon. Lidl says that new employees will be paid the Living Wage, which comes into effect in March this year.

Tosco stagnating, the Germans expanding at a fair rate of knots.. Their sales ballooning, Tesco et al's merely moving northwards?

Tosco resorting to some hair-brained idea to initiate 'budget' stores, something Leahy abandoned, and Sainsbury also recently abandoned (Netto) citing either an 'undermining of the main brand or lack of investment (probably realised it was a pig in the post).

The Germans paying the 'living wage' from march. Tosco staff barely on 8 quid an hour.

Booker shareholders must be potty if they think being a host for the parasitic Tosco is a good idea. Yes they may be able to shovel their budget 'stuff' into Tosco's budget branches but what happens when that venture goes South, potentially of course?

Tesco wants to launch a discounter type model based on convenience? Now if only they owned such a chain like OneStop so they could launch this if they wanted.

Oh wait...

Administrator Comment I think that's enough on this subject in the News Articles thread.

A number of posts deleted.  Obviously the above was missed by some.  If anybody wishes to continue to discuss this relatively harmless but carelessly planned/executed event then start a new topic, anybody that wishes to continue to titillate over it take it into H.A.N.

Could Tesco be preparing to use Chatteris as guinea pig for launch of new chain of discount stores to take on Aldi and Lidl?
PUBLISHED: 20:08 24 February 2018 | UPDATED: 20:08 24 February 2018

Chatteris could become the retailing epicentre of a discount supermarket revolution if, as predicted today, Tesco use the vacant portion of its mothballed superstore to launch a brand to counter Aldi.

Hi everyone

I came across the quote below from  Mickey Hart who was in the psychedelic Rock band, the Grateful Dead. Being a drummer, unsurprisingly, he sees the importance of rhythm in music and beyond.

“If I was to give you one piece of advice, it is this: life is all about rhythm. Your heartbeat, great sex, the seasons, how often you call your parents, your good days versus your bad days, your DNA, the universe, everything has a rhythm. You have to develop a well-stretched ear and listen. The more you listen for the rhythm of your life, the more you will hear it. Find your rhythm. Live your life to its beat.”

Have a good week.

Regards,
Matt

If Jo public has any sense he will either rio up or wipe their a rse with any such notice..Not worth the piece of paper it’s written on wuite frankly. It’ll only be those that take Tosco fines seriously will be daft enough to pay.

Do not ignore  the fine, Do talk to the store, do contact head office, appeal it if you want. But do not just think they will not do any thing about it, This  system was tried out in a few Express stores last year, and worked very well, they did take the offenders to court and in the cases I heard about they did win ( east and north London ).

As to those parking in Disabled bays I would clamp them and tow them away.
